When wiring frames a wiring board is a very useful aid. Mine was made from some scrap flooring material and is routed to take, National, Langstroth and of course Smith both Brood and super frames.
In use the wire spool is located to the right as I am handed that way, and the board and spool are screwed to the work bench.
Using the spool as a lever a surprising tension can be obtained on the wire, and when secured it should twang near as high a note as from a violin string.
The top bar is a National to give the scale.
