Hi, I have kept bees since 1987 and for most of that time I have used Poly Hives. If you want to know why then by exploring the site I suspect you will find the answers to that one! I am now retired and have recently (late 2016) moved into the Scottish Borders from the East Mids though I was born and brought up in the Aberdeen area.

Evening Classes in the Scottish Borders

Setting up a new colony

Up here in the Scottish borders it is in my view too late to be setting up a new colony especially if you are thinking of getting a queen started from scratch. Hard as it may be it is now better to wait until spring and eight buy a nucleus colony that some one else …
