Honey Extractors

There are two main types.

Radial, where the frames are held like the spokes of a bike wheel and are not turned around in the extracting process. There are some seriously big radials… 36 frames at a time and up.

Tangential where the frames are at right angles to the center, and the frames are turned twice in the process to reduce the strain on the comb from the honey still to be extracted on the outside face.

There are also fancy Tangentials called swing basket where the combs are held in baskets and as the rotation is slowed the baskets swing to permit the 2nd side to be spun out.

Top pic shows an 8 swing basket machine and the lower pic the springs that enable the swinging.
